Interview - Dear

Bio:
I have been composing music since the 1980s and I have been part of various musical groups and projects. I am also a speaker and author of radio programs, a writer and a journalist. Hundreds of interviews I made with bands and musical artists for www.kultunderground.org

Musical genre:
Others tell me. It was never just rock'n'roll.

Current line up:
I am a singer and a multi-instrumentalist. The others are occasional guests.

Album/EP/demo:
I recently released “New Roaring Twenties / Human Decision Required" (New Model Label, double cd, 2021) and "Out of Africa" (Music Force, 2021) with the moniker of DeaR, the letters of my name and surname, Davide Riccio.

Influences:
At the age of 55 I have now listened to and collected many thousands of records. I am no longer able to tell. Synapses are now connected to everything.

What your lyrics are about
Each of my songs explores different topics. There is no preference, but only an attempt to learn and understand more about life and the world, and maybe to share it poetically with someone.

Live performance that you will remember for a long time:
I only did some concerts in the 80s and again in the late 90s and I didn't like it. I quit. Too repetitive and stressful, even if it was fun at times. This I will especially remember of each of my live performances. I prefer composing and recording, closing one project and moving on to the next.

A funny anecdote happened on stage or in the studio:
Funny anecdotes to tell don't come to my mind. Just something pretty depressing, which I can now also laugh at.

Your favorite records:
There are records that I go back to listening even after many years and that have not lost any of their timeless fascinating perfection. Rainbow Dome Musick by Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, Radio Activity by Kraftwerk, Secrets of the Beehive and Gone to Earth by David Sylvian, Neu !, Music for films I and Music for Airport (Brian Eno), Voices (Roger Eno)... not to mention the records of Bowie and of the wonderful Kate Bush. And so much more.

Tell me an album that you think you are the only one in the world to appreciate:
The Glory of the Human Voice by Florence Foster Jenkins?

A musician you would like to meet:
David Bowie... Not too soon though.

What would you ask in your backstage if you were the most important rock artist on the planet:
No true gentleman could really tell you that.
