Revengine - Slave

Early 2007 saw the launch of Revengine. This Alice In Chains, Therapy?, and Faith No More–inspired Alternative Rock–Heavy Grunge band is from Lapua, Finland, and they have earned a lot of praise for their albums. Revengine stands out because of their ability to appeal to grunge-rock and metal listeners because of their variety of sounds, including guitar and vocalist Antti Jokiranta, bassist Juha Järvelä, drummer Jouni Yli-Rantala, and guitarist Mirko Honkanen.

This is their new single. The band stated: “Slave” is a deeply introspective track that weaves a tapestry of emotions through its poignant lyrics. It explores themes of self-discovery, the duality of light and darkness, and the struggle for personal freedom. The song’s narrative is a journey of overcoming one’s mistakes and embracing the fight for a better self, all while grappling with feelings of emptiness and the quest for inner peace.

The intro reminds me of Queens of the stone age and the song explodes at 0.45 (great drumming and fantastic sound!). The vocals are amazingly performed and catchy and the song is very 90s but with a modern production. A very cool one, with a spot on performance by the band.
