Looting from the past - 1977

1977

Rock sees its many faces develop in a river of different genres, with a series of releases of rare beauty. Jethro Tull inaugurate their folk trilogy with the masterpiece "Songs from the Wood" while Pink Floyd release one of the most articulated records in terms of single track length, "Animals" (inspired by Orwell's "Animal Farm"); Isaac Asimov will inspire Alan Parson and Eric Woolfson for the album "I Robot". Queen create a stadium anthem by clapping their feet and hands and the song that we will listen to from kindergarten to RSA, "We will rock you", inside a rocky album. And while David Bowie inaugurates the Berlin trilogy and Rush the second part of their discography with a beautiful record like "A Farewell to Kings", KISS unleash the crowds with "Love Gun" and Fleetwood Mac fly high with the classic "Rumors". AC / DC give us perhaps their best record, at least of the Bon Scott era and Aerosmith their last excellent work for a good handful of years.

On the metal front, alongside the Blue Oyster Cult that confirms their state of grace, Judas Priest stands out with their third album (but the production defects remain), while the very noisy Motörhead gives a new look to rock'n'roll with their eponymous debut. Punk rock breaks out with the double solo debut of Iggy Pop, with two releases of the RAMONES phenomenon and with the arrival of the Clash. A final note for Eric Clapton releasing one of his most successful records ever.
