New music: Strawberry Moon - Down in the Dirt

Strawberry Moon are dynamic and smart, balancing fuzz and groove, croon and scream, sweet and sour. Katie Bowles, Liam McElroy, Grey Stephenson, Christian Noonan, and TJ Meade formed the complete five-piece band in 2019 and released their debut album Habitual Creatures in October 2022. Creatures received favourable local notice and was nominated for the Newlin Music Prize. Strawberry Moon was also voted the second best local band in the RVA Mag Readers Choice survey.

This is their new single, called "Down on the Dirt". The band said about the song: "It is a fierce and energetic song, written about burnout and needing a break. It's centered around a narrative regarding a dragon that has so much riding on her shoulders and needs a break. The riffs are driving, crunchy, and dramatic. The vocals are gritty, strong, and soaring. It was recorded in Richmond, VA at The Ward Studios".

I love the vibes of the song, fast-paced (great drumming), energetic and vibrant. It brings me back to a few decades ago. I love how the vocals intensify gradually ending up in a "angry" final. Very cool song, give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Strawberry Moon as well.
