Song of the day: Phantom Power

PHANTOM POWER IS A LOS ANGELES-BASED AMERICAN ALTERNATIVE ROCK BAND.

Following early success with bands such as 100 Inch Mud Cow and Core of IO, guitarist GREGG DALLESANDRO formed the band in 2010. The band's dark and melodious style harkens back to heavy grunge bands of the 1990s, but with a current twist, blending metal, rock, and blues with several layers to produce a distinct and distinct sound.

Their debut album "Phantom Power II" was produced and engineered by Paul D'Amour (Tool/Feersum Ennjin) and recorded at Fireside Sound, which is run by Chris Thorn (Blind Melon, Awol Nation). The first single "Nightmare" is an up-tempo riff rocker that could hold its own on modern and rock radio. I really like the pace and the mood of the song, very grunge-oriented and with very cool riffs and inspired vocals.
