DISILLUSIVE PLAY - Interview

- Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release “Songs for the Non-Existent”
Hello and thank you very much for the invitation!
We are very proud that we managed after a very hard working period to release our second album entitled “Songs for the Non-Existent” in August 2023, by Wormholedeath Records. The new album includes 11 songs with many variations. Some are tough and hard, some are more melodic and also there is a ballad. The album was recorded by Jimmy Katsaros (The Silent Wedding) at Underground Music Studios, it was mixed by Bob Katsionis (Stray Gods, ex. Firewind, ex. Septic Flesh) at Sound Symmetry Studio and it was mastered by Nasos Nomikos at VU Productions.

Moreover, in this album we are very happy to have several guests. More specifically, keyboards over the whole album are signed by Bob Katsionis, while backing vocals by Iliana Tsakiraki (Enemy of Reality). In addition, we have a duet that gave its name to the album “Song for the Non-Existent” with guest vocals by Marios Karanastasis (The Silent Wedding) and last but not least, guest bass by Panagiotis Bourazanis in the official video “Queen of the Night”.

- How would you describe your sound?
We introduce ourselves as a hard/heavy rock band, with a metal attitude and some progressive nuances.

- What do you write about?
The lyrics of the album deal with several aspects of society, everyday life and feelings. A wide range of thoughts is revealed concerning criticism, racism, inequality, persistence, weakness, unfulfilled dreams, family, past relationships, life choices, suppressed souls, despair and hope.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
Of course, each one of us has its own influences, but I can give you the name of favorite band for each of us!
Antigoni (vocals) – Halestorm
Jim (lead guitar) – Queensrÿche
Fotis (rhythm guitar) – Iron Maiden
Michalis (bass) – Gojira
Aris (drums) - Pantera

- Your favourite live performance so far?
Although we love every live show, our biggest live performance was at the Metalhead Meeting in Bucharest in May 2023! It was an amazing experience!

- Your favourite albums?
Operation Mindcrime – Queensrÿche
Pawn hearts - Van der Graaf Generator
The Masquerade Overture – Pendragon
The light - Spock’s beard
Toto IV – Toto

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Brittney Hayes (Unleash the Archers)

- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
I don’t think that I would ever need something very strange, even if we were the most important band on the earth!  Maybe a strictly private space with common comforts.

- What are your plans for the near future?
Our next live show is on the 13th of January 2024, as special guests for the 10th Anniversary of “Illusory” and also, we are in arrangements for the official album release show.
