Najar - Cycles Of Light (2024)

Najar is a band founded by Noam Najar that incorporates a fusion of Middle Eastern influences, 90s grunge sounds, and modern progressive rock elements. Their music is inspired by artists such as Alice in Chains, Audioslave, and Tool, resulting in a powerful and intricate sound.

This is their debut album, Cycles Of Light. It consists of 8 songs and 35 minutes of music. The opener Red Slides starts with a clean arpeggio, very 90s and Pearl Jam. I love the atmosphere, the melodic vocals and the drumming with very cool guitar parts and inspired solos. Hallucinations features a very catchy and energetic chorus, mixed with some Incubus vibes during the verses. Speaking of verses, the third track, The Old Memory, got some Audioslave vibes (and very cool bass lines, simple but the right ones for the song). Talking about the end is melancholy, very Alice in Chains and again, it features a very inspired guitar solo at the end of the song.

All That's Left For Me and the first single Mourn My Inability, are probably my two favourite songs on the album with a classy arrangement, intense vocals and ethnic parts, very interesting and original (again, amazing solos, different in styles but always inspired). Speaking of solos, if you like them you will surely like the instrumental final track, Fuel Tank, a good compromise between melody and technical skills, which remotely reminds me of Joe Satriani.

If you are a fan of all the bands I mentioned in this review (but with an intricate twist, especially in the last part of the album) you should listen to Cycles Of Light, a very well written, performed and produced debut with a great performance by the band and very cool songs.
