BRAKE LOOSE - kiss me bye bye

Brake Loose are led and formed by reckless Venezuelan singer and poet Alejandro Murillo. The band is completed by guitarist David O’Grady, bassist Juanjo Pulpeiro, and drummer Nando Alonso.

Alex Murillo about their brand new song: "Kiss Me Bye Bye is a song about believing in the myths and magic that surrounds our human existence. Let me explain. Since the dawn of civilisation, we have been captivated as a species by tales of heroes who confront giants, sea monsters, werewolves and other stories involving mythical creatures. As the saying goes, a tale transforms into myth, and myth evolves into legend. I say this, because I believe all of these tales and stories that have survived the sands of time are somehow encrypted into our collective consciousness and bring a sense of deeper meaning and understanding of who we are and our relationship with symbols and nature, and perhaps as well they serve as a reminder of the existence of a magical and ancestral past and the importance of values that transcend history, and as well as Carl Jung (famous psychologist from the last century) use to say, embracing our shadow or our dark side. Now, I’ve always been fascinated by vampires and werewolves and other horror stories, both are widespread concepts in European folklore. Now, the song tells the story of a man going out on an evening walk with his lover to the seafront where they live, as the twilight settles over the bay, a full moon illuminates the clear skies. Walking side by side, they share their day to day stories and desires with one another. Though determined to reveal his true self, as they approach the seafront with the moon casting over him, he transforms into a terrifying werewolf showing her his true face, his true nature. An excruciating change that would scare even the most colossal God like creature. But instead of fear, he saw wonder in her eyes and she accepted him fully. There beneath the moonlit sky, he guided her throughout the night and asking him for a kiss their love transcended the ordinary, embracing the wildness in both their souls"..

Kiss Me Bye Bye features a fantastic production and a spot on performance by the band. The vocals are very intense and, to my ears, are something in between Jim Morrison and Pete Steele. My favourite parts of the song are the main riff, the super catchy chorus (believe me, it will get stuck in your head) and the intense break at 3.15, with aggressive vocals followed by a guitar solo. The song is of high quality from every point of view. It's not short, but it's enjoyable from start to finish. I totally recommend it.
