Genie Loci (pronounced Gee-Nee Low-Kai) is an Australian four-piece band based in Awabakal (Newcastle). Since their formation in 2023, they have captivated audiences with their unique sound. The band features two vocalists who craft a mix of brooding ballads and energetic grooves, all anchored by powerful guitar motifs.
This is Shake the Dust, the title track of their debut EP, released at the end of 2024. The song features amazing riffs and a great band performance. I can hear the 70s influence with the huge solo section and the dynamics (very Zeppelin, to my ears) starting from minute 2.25. Something that, unfortunately, rarely hear these days. Amazing performance and a very cool song, intense, energetic and with lots of tasty parts.
