Velvetcut - Run Rabbit Run

VELVETCUT, the Finnish band celebrated for their throwback '90s grunge and alt-rock vibes, is back in action with their new single, "Run Rabbit Run." Originally a 1984 hit from Finnish rock legends Smack, the song pays homage to a band that left a massive mark on rock history. Smack’s raw energy inspired rock titans like Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses—fun fact, Nirvana even covered the track live in their early days, with clips still floating around on YouTube.

Produced and mixed by Topi Wiio, VELVETCUT’s take gives the song a fresh twist while keeping its gritty soul intact. Blending their signature grunge and alt-rock style, the band breathes new life into a track that once resonated through LA's underground rock scene. "Run Rabbit Run" is the last sneak peek before their much-awaited album drops on May 16th via Rockhopper Music.

I love the energy, the performance, and the production—powerful and clear (the drums sound fantastic!) You probably know this song as well; if you don't, it's a great opportunity to discover it, with this beautiful version by VELVETCUT. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow the band on social media.
