"Jump" by Van Halen. Synth instead of guitars?!?

Okay, so "Jump" by Van Halen, right? That synth intro? Before this, they were all about Eddie's insane guitar skills, pure rock and roll fire. Then Keyboards come out of nowhere. "Jump" was Van Halen being awesome and not giving a damn about sticking to the rules, especially coming from one of the best guitar players of the history, Mr Eddie Van Halen.

Turns out Eddie had this keyboard riff kicking around for ages. The band wasn't totally sold at first, but Dave Lee Roth? He heard something special. He wrote these super simple, feel-good lyrics, kinda inspired by seeing people in a tough spot on TV, but he flipped it into this "go for it!" vibe. "Might as well jump!" – it's like a musical high-five telling you to just go for it.

And that video? Pure 80s gold. The band rocking out, everyone jumping around like crazy – it just fit the song's energy. "Jump" made their album 1984 a monster hit and turned Van Halen into absolute rock legends. It's catchy, it's fun, and it makes you wanna, well, jump! It's a total classic for a reason.

David Lee Roth is still touring and enjoying singing the song. This is a very recent video shot
at M3 Rock Festival 2025.
