The Amatory Murder - ‘Velvet Noose’ (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)

The Amatory Murder, an alternative rock band hailing from Brooklyn, New York, was founded by Xian Murder. Initially conceived as a minimalist project featuring only a guitar, synthesizers, and Xian’s vocals, the band has since expanded to include drummer and multi-percussionist Scott Genovese, bassist Binx Noir, and guitarist Christian Buckley. Their sound is a fusion of atmospheric textures, grungy punk influences, and dynamic pop rhythms.

While they occasionally draw inspiration from classic rock, their style remains distinctly modern and reflective of the 21st century. The band has toured across the United States, sharing the stage with an impressive lineup of artists, including Stabbing Westward, Julien-K, The Birthday Massacre, Combichrist, The Dreaming, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and The Red Paintings.

This is their brand new single, Velvet Noose: The singer Xian Murder describes it:  "In 1961 through a series of psychological experiments, Dr. Stanley Milgram discovered most people, when instructed by an authority figure--especially one in a white lab coat--will obey, even if it goes against their moral compass. Milgram's findings echo louder than ever today. I carry this knowledge with me as I witness how fear and authority still shape human behavior. Obedience can be more dangerous than defiance."

I find the song extremely eclectic and original. It's catchy and interesting every passing second, in between a few genres. The vocals remind me of the last Bush production, and the solo section is danceable while keeping an aggressive mood, with pure 80s synths in the background. Confusing, right? I understand. That's why you have to listen to the song, which is amazingly performed by the band and super original. Give Velvet Noose a go and follow The Amatory Murder on social media as well.
