Drawing inspiration from a wildly diverse range of artists — think Jeff Buckley to Tool, Supertramp to U2, The Who to Jason Isbell, and Genesis to Radiohead — Marc Sennett’s music covers a lot of ground. Over the years, he’s blended folk rock, funk rock, hard rock, and occasionally dabbled in metal and even adult contemporary vibes.
Originally born and raised in Boston, Marc grew up surrounded by hard rock, and you can hear that gritty energy running through almost everything he writes. His later move to Cincinnati — which he fondly calls the “Gateway to Appalachia” — opened his ears to bluegrass, country, folk, and Americana, adding even more layers to his sound.
His latest single is The Relentless Pursuit of Mediocrity. I love the pace and the mood of the song, amazingly arranged and performed, with a brilliant rhythm section, cathy vocals and inspired guitars. A quality song from every point of view, also enjoyable from start to finish. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Marc Sennett on social media.
