- Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release.
Hi, we are Libra, an Italian hard rock band since November 2021. The album cover features a woman who invites the listener to escape from today's reality made of indifference, hate, and problems, to enter our world where the themes of the songs don't make people feel alone.
- How would you describe your sound?
The search for sound is constantly evolving. Each of us has different musical influences, such as blues, rock, heavy and power metal. From all these genres, we have managed to create our own that sets us apart, a sound very strong and melodic. There is a great harmony between lyrics and music, so engaging.
- What do you write about?
When creating songs, we don't follow a specific line but let ourselves be carried away by inspiration. Sometimes a melody inspires the lyrics, other times we develop the music around the lyrics.
We write about personal experiences like a friendship born during the COVID period, an ending love with the desire to relive it, an imaginary journey to the Scottish Highlands, about the story of a soldier fighting to return home and about the importance of living ourselves.
- What do you listen to when you are home?
We listen to the music that we have in our hearts and that introduced us to the world of music, such as Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Rammstein and much more, but we also like to listen to underground bands to compare ourselves and support emerging music.
- Your favourite live performance so far?
Our best live show was during a festival. We were the only band and we played for more than two hours with an audience so lovely. We performed on an important stage where audio and lights were a perfect mix for our show. We played famous covers and our album, but the best thing was hearing our fans sing along with us.
- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
We always have funny stories during and after live shows, for example, after a live show, we make cocktails for the bartender and fans. This story is still very famous among us and it's very funny.
- Your favourite albums?
Choosing some albums is very difficult because each artist has their own peculiarities, there is a long list, and we can mention a few: Painkiller, Tunes of War, Fear of the Dark, and Paranoid.
- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
There are so many Legends we'd like to meet, R.J. Dio, Lemmy Killmister, but probably the person we would really like to meet to know more about his life, anecdotes, and musical experience is Ozzy Osbourne, the king of darkness.
- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
We are very humble guys and we will never make absurd requests; meeting a lot of fans after a live show is enough.
- What are your plans for the near future?
Now we expect our debut album to be liked and listened to by many people around the world with the collaboration of our record label Wanikiya Record Promotion. We are working on our second album, and we are planning some big live shows.
