Soul Monkey Breed is made up of five seasoned musicians with years of experience in diverse musical and studio projects. In mid-2025, they decided to start writing their own songs, a move that went so well they headed to Mallorca that November to record their debut album at the famous Palma Music Studios. The first tracks will be released as "The Palma Sessions" in the second quarter of 2026. Their live shows blend fresh interpretations of well-known and lesser-known blues and rock tunes from artists like Richie Kotzen, Simon McBride, Kaiser Franz Josef, and Stevie Salas. Rather than sticking to the classic rock formula, they bring a modern, unique twist, led by a one-of-a-kind voice, energetic rhythm guitars, and, above all, groove—with a touch of blues, plenty of rock, and hints of funk and pop.
I love the sound of their new release, “Miss You Soon.” It’s not a classic ballad, but an intense, organic track recorded during live sessions at Palma Music Studios. Co-produced and mixed by René Shades of Pretty Maids, the vocals remind me of Richie Kotzen, and there are some fantastic guitar solos as well. Well written and performed, it’s a classy release from Soul Monkey Breed.
