Watford-born musician Jay Cavalier has been a staple of the DIY punk scene ever since picking up an Argos drum kit at age 14, best known for holding down the rhythm section in heavyweights like Personal Best, Supermilk, Nathy SG, and ONSIND. With his project JCATB, he pivots into a richer, dad-rock-inspired sound that channels icons like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Paul Westerberg, and Billy Bragg. Having already shared stages with DIY favorites like Cheerbleederz, Cultdreams, and Soot Sprite, he’s proving to be just as compelling at the front of the stage.
The lead single and title track from his new 3-track EP, “The Big Light,” features stellar guest vocals from Laura Kovic (Fortitude Valley). Musically, the song strikes a captivating mood with reminiscent of The Cure mixed with 70s Punk Rock.
