Milwaukee alt-rockers Fuzzysurf are back with Black Licorice, a lean, loud, and long-shelved 12-track album that’s been waiting in the wings since 2022. Shelved during lineup changes, fatherhood, and their massive 2025 double-album Chameleons, the band—Sean Lehner, Corey Murphy, Joe Ludwig, and Colin O'Day—revisited the vault, overhauled the tracks, and tracked a raw, rock-heavy record packed with fuzzy guitars, synth-driven counter-melodies, and huge power-pop hooks for fans of Weezer, The Strokes, and QOTSA.
The lead single “Nobody’s Fool” is a total, high-octane banger that tackles fake people and manipulation head-on. Driven by fantastic-sounding, muscular guitar riffs, a driving rhythm section, and an insanely catchy sing-along chorus, the track turns pure frustration into a loud, confident middle finger that hits with serious heat from start to finish.
