Los Angeles-based independent songwriter and producer Greg Haptor has built an impressive catalog topping 350,000 streams completely on his own terms—no label, manager, or PR machine required. With hit tracks like “Meant to Be” (75,000+ streams) and his acclaimed cover of The Cars’ “Drive” leading the charge, Haptor writes, produces, and plays guitar, piano, bass, and harmonica on every release. Drawing unhidden inspiration from icons like The Beatles, Paul Weller, Bob Dylan, and Burt Bacharach, his signature style pairs sticky, instant melodies with deeper, heavier lyrics exploring love, loss, and real life.
His sweeping new single, “(I'm Not) Living in the Dark,” is a gorgeous art-pop ballad tackling the end of a toxic relationship and the bright, hopeful horizon of new love. Recorded live in the studio for basic tracks before layering on overdubs and a sweeping real string section—with strictly zero AI involved—the track showcases Haptor’s knack for rich, authentic arrangements. Evoking classic Beatles-esque magic, the song steadily grows in emotional intensity, anchored by a quality performance and extremely catchy, heartfelt vocals that resonate long after the final note.
