Born out of individual journeys through Manchester’s vibrant music scene, Rosellas are Drew Selby (vocals/guitar), Euan Mail (guitar), Ollie Appleby (bass), and Mark Zanker (drums).
Musically inspired by the likes of The War On Drugs, Sam Fender, and The La’s—and lyrically channeling Ian Brown, Morrissey, and Noel Gallagher—Rosellas have carved a distinctive path in UK indie rock. Their rise includes headlining This Feeling stages at Isle of Wight and Truck Festival, a sold-out show at Manchester Academy 2, and widespread radio support from BBC Introducing, BBC 6Music’s Chris Hawkins, Radio X’s John Kennedy, among others.
EP’s new single Get Over Yourself is about people who take themselves too seriously & as a result can never be fully happy. Vocalist Drew Selby says of the release “we write lyrics that fixate on the desire to wade through the daily monotony of working life, while focusing your mind on key elements that drive success, ambition, passion & determination. The EP showcases a new direction for the band & has resulted in the songs, lyrics & melodies being far more intentional, serving a specific purpose without overcrowding the quality”.
I love the chorus—super catchy and amazingly performed (it will get stuck in your head, I promise!) —and the overall production is perfect for the genre. The guitars sound convincing both in a clean setting and in the energetic sections, delivering a punchy impact during the chorus. Get Over Yourself is a quality song, very enjoyable from start finish.
