Soraia - Children Of Lesser Prayers

Soraia is back with a new EP, called Confessions from the Vena Cava.

“We had a lot to say on this set of songs. We looked outward at the injustices in the world, but we also looked inward, addressing topics like feeling like, at times, we had to conform as artists,” says lead vocalist, ZouZou Mansour. “Doing this EP was liberating.”

The band has embarked on countless tours and festival dates, along the way opening for Bon Jovi, Steven Van Zandt and The Disciples of Soul, Wolfmother, Story of the Year, and Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. And Soraia has earned accolades from famous rockers like Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett and Steven Van Zandt, as well as write-ups in Rolling Stone, Loudwire and Billboard.

“Children of Lesser Prayers”
presents some powerful religious commentary. “This song asks the question whether where a person is born determines the value of their prayers,” Mansour says. She sings: Lesser prayers/No one's there/Down on my knees I feel so scared/I hit the wall/I’m in freefall/Trapped in a place where no one cares. Mansour’s emotive, full-throated and raspy vocals shine on the EP closer, “Looks Are Deceiving,” a stirring ballad gifted to the group by Sulo. “After all the toughness on the EP, it’s nice to end it with some vulnerability,” she says.

I love the drumming and the super catchy and energetic vocals, very 90s, as well as the guitars, sharp, with a fantastic sound and with memorable parts. “Children of Lesser Prayers” Is a quality song from every point of view, enjoyable from start to finish. Give it a go and follow Soraia on social media as well.
