Interview: Foivos

Guitar player

1) Bio
I was born on May 2nd, 1983. Began my musical studies at the age of 6, by playing the classical piano, until the age of 12. After an accidental discovery of a guitar in a closet, I decided to start practicing it. At the age of 16, I began working as a professional musician. 22 years later, I’ve become one of the most known guitar players, in the Greek music industry. Having recorded over 700 songs, in albums, and played live beside all the Greek famous singers. Toured in Greece, all over Europe, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and the U.S.A.

2) Line up
It’s just me at the moment. All the other instruments recorded in the E.P. are played by session musicians. The lineup for my band has not yet been formed.

3) We sound like
Generally speaking, it’s Metal. But it has elements of rock, prog and some folkish vibes.

4) Discography
This is my first attempt, so just the E.P “Distorted” for now.

5) Influences
Lots of influences from bands and solo artists. Some of them are: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Pain of Salvation, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai.

6) What do you write about?
Since there are no lyrics, I have no limitations actually. Usually, any song I write, comes from an emotion or a feeling I have at the given moment. To give a title to the song comes from what flavor leaves behind, after it has ended.

7) Your favorite live performance so far
Two come immediately in my mind. Royal Albert Hall and the Peace and Friendship stadium with a classical orchestra.

8) Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
I participated in a concert in Cyprus, many years ago. Everything was going well, until some kids, that were outside the stadium, started throwing eggs and oranges to the stage. It took them literally seconds to turn a smooth concert into a chaotic one. We left the stage, covered in eggshells and orange juice. And just to be clear, we were playing pretty good. It wasn’t happening due to our lack of playing. They were just having fun, in their own way.

9) Your favorite records
The Wall - Pink Floyd, Master of Reality - Black Sabbath, Metropolis part 2 scenes from a memory and many many more.

10) A musician you would like to meet for a beer
Zakk Wylde. I believe we would drink beers until we pass out. Also, the stories I could hear from the Ozzy years would be very interesting.

11) What will you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth
I would ask for 10 people from the audience, to come backstage, half an hour before the show starts, to see how we prepare to go on stage and then stand on the corner to watch the full show.
