Kingfisher is an emerging indie-rock duo with hooky tunes that blend pop with rock (a la Bloc Party, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Placebo). It is composed of an extrovert Italian drummer (Nich) and an introvert Colombian vocalist and guitarist (Julian). We are based in Sweden and started playing together in the spring of 2019.

Kingfisher has an eco-friendly philosophy that would like to spread across fans and the public in general. Environment sustainability and nature protection are overarching themes of the band's vision and artwork.

How did we meet? We rehearsed in the same building and happened to be in adjacent rooms rehearsing on our own, when unusually, Julian the introvert approached Nich the extrovert. After a few tentative band practices, we found solid ground when writing our first-to-be-released song, Illusions. More songs and strong chemistry followed.

Stage-ready at last, we made our debut at a graduation party and local pubs in Uppsala and Stockholm. But the momentum was halted there due to reasons we are all too aware of. From then on, 2020 became a slurry of new songs and live streams and culminated in the acquisition of an experienced bass player for live events. He is Swedish and his name is Affe.

Two recording sessions followed with award-winning Swedish producer, Erik Berglund. With him we have enough material to release a whole album. The singles of the album will be released every 21st of every month, starting from June 2021. Then, we will have an album released by early 2022... (and actually more singles are in the making).
