Interview: HARD DISK DRIVE

HDD

1) Bio
We are a Heavy Metal band from Gargalianoi, Messinia, Greece.
We were formed during the fall of 2010, initially as a live cover band, but we soon began to compose our own original material.
5 years later, and after we had already recorded a 3-track demo, we released their first EP “Sadistic Leader” which received very good reviews.
After many setbacks and line-up changes, the band self-produced and released “Lockdown Sorrow” single & “Whispers Over the Sky” EP in 2020.
Immediately after the release of "Whispers Over the Sky" EP, we began working on older tracks that had never been recorded before and also composing new material, we started out creating the first full-length album of Hard Disk Drive entitled "Immortal Nightmares" which will be released on October 4, 2021 in digital format.

2) Line up
Dinos Fil - Vocals/Guitars
Thanos K - Drums
Paris Ch. - Guitars

3) We sound like
Let’s sum it up in 3 words: heavy, melodic, dark! We like to pursue an old–school aesthetic, however filtered through a more modern sound, combining all our different influences.

4) Discography
Hard Disk Drive (Demo 2011)
Sadistic Leader (EP 2015)
Lockdown Sorrow (Single 2020)
Whispers Over The Sky (EP 2020)
Immortal Nightmares (LP 2021)

5) Influences
The music of Hard Disk Drive derives from the combination of mainly two genres; the classic heavy metal origins we all grew up with and remain at the top of our playlists (bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Accept) combined with gothic metal influences, such as Paradise Lost, Poisonblack and Charon.

6) What do you write about?
Some of our lyrics are based on personal experiences, others are based on fantasy.

7) Your favourite live performance so far
December 21st 2014, playing Remedy club, Athens GR.
The place was packed and everyone had a blast!

8) Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
During a show, our bass player at the time stepped and tripped over a power supply connector which lead to cutting the power of our amps!

9) Your favourite records
Metallica - Metallica
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Paradise Lost - Draconian Times
Poisonblack - Escapextasy
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Savatage - Power Of The Night
Judas Priest - Painkiller
and many more!

10) A musician you would like to meet for a beer
It is difficult to pick just one !
Probably the first one that comes to our mind is Mr Ronnie James Dio.

11) What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth
Never really thought about it, maybe all the things the most important band on earth requires.
