Interview - Soda Cracker Jesus

Soda Cracker Jesus is the rock n roll brainchild of singer-songwriter-producer Regan Lane
His debut single My Anthem has charted on many independent radio stations worldwide, rising to number 15 on the prestigious Radio Indie Alliance Charts.

- Hi Regan and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Kill It Tomorrow.
It has some thoughts and feelings about how I looked at myself before I got clean. But the basic premise of the whole thing is to get up each day and be the best version of yourself you can be. And then do that over, one day at a time and kill it tomorrow. In under 3 minutes...lol

- How would you describe your sound?
I’m going through a punk rock phase right now…lol…. Bedroom Rock! I produce and play everything so it’s me and my little world. I’ve been exploring some more softer things recently and those will be coming out soon.

- What do you write about?
Right now, about being better and seizing the day. But in all honesty, anything that inspires me in some way. I have a new song that talks about my feelings after my dad passed called Kaleidoscope, which will be the next release after Kill It Tomorrow.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
So I’m super tight with my 13-year-old daughter. We’ve been listening to the new Beatles Let It Be remix and also diving into My Chemical Romance’s first record. I listen to old stuff and new stuff. I just ordered Bo Burnham’s album from his Netflix special Inside. Once again, whatever inspires me is what I listen to. And I really dig some local friends in a band called Vanilla.

- Your favorite live performance so far?
For me personally, a few years back I did an opening set for Styx in a 1200 seat theater. Just me and my acoustic guitar. I did six songs, five originals and closed with All You Need Is Love. Had the whole audience singing along with me….lol…Pretty cool experience.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
My wife and daughter have four cats that run around in our house. It always seems like they want to be in my studio when I’m recording something that needs a little quiet. And that’s when they want to fight or run around or jump on shit.

- Your favourite albums?
The White Album, My Aim Is True, Never Mind The Bollocks, The Black Parade. That’s some of the stuff off the top of my head. I’ve got a guilty pleasure for the Carpenters. Lol

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Probably John Lennon.

- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important artist on earth?
Are you sure that you all don’t have me confused with somebody else? lol

- What are your plans for the next future?
My main concern is to help my daughter get through school and pursue whatever passions that she wants to pursue in her life. And while I’m doing that I’m going to continue writing (hopefully)catchy and cool songs. I’ve had some licensing things come my way recently and I will continue pursuing those opportunities. I have been feeling the itch to play live lately, so a full band may be ahead at some point!
