- Hi guys and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Our twenties.
Our Twenties is a tune about a realisation I had one time about me and all my friends having more or less total mental breakdowns at some various point during our twenties. I got to thinking that either we specifically are totally screwed mentally (jury is out on that one) or this is maybe something that everyone can connect with in some way or another; that weird idea of how hard it is to become an adult when you maybe imagined it’d be so much easier!
- How would you describe your sound?
We’re a hard rockin, heart string pulling, shredding ass punk band who attempts to write only huge ass bangers (and hopefully vaguely succeeds)!
- What do you write about?
Anything and everything around or inside me. If I find It funny, tragic or ridiculous, it’s probably going in a song. This is why I often write about my friends as they are all of those things.
- What do you listen to when you are home?
Honestly, podcasts. I play music for a living and sometimes I just wanna unwind to some guy inanely talking about like... bats or something.
- Your favourite live performance so far?
Our first performance back after Lockdown was in our hometown in front of friends and Fred’s insane work colleagues. It felt like a proper homecoming and weals our first chance to really show people what we’re all about, that was a riot! We’ve got a show at the Key Club coming up in Leeds supporting Bleak Soul and Tigress which seems like it’ll be a riot too, we’re stoked for that!
- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
We once played a show in Leeds with this Paul Weller looking guys, real 'down the pub' lad types. They came with an entourage of small business owner, gammon mates and their carbon copy peroxide girlfriends, one amongst this group was a particularly ratty looking guy (think bounce by the ounce guy) who kept coming up to me and going 'he might look like a mod but he's a FUKIN PUNK', I asked him who he was on about and he kept going 'ME LANDLORD'... I thought the guy was crazy but until I figured out that he was talking about the lead singer of the Paul Weller band who owned the pub this guy probably abandons his family every night to go drink at. Never before had a puzzle piece clicked in my head so beautifully. HES A FUKIN PUNK.
- Your favourite albums?
We’re a pretty diverse band of characters, I dig cult punk classics like Astray by Samiam our bassist Raphael loves metal like Cannibal Corpse and Amon Amarth Fred is well into classic 90’s boombap style hip hop (MF Doom, Wu-Tang, Biggie) and Lyons is into quote ‘baby making music’ (Freds term for his music taste not mine), funky soul like Anderson Paak and southern hip hop like Outkast and Danny Brown.
- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
All my favourite musicians seem like terrible company so probably Mr. Blobby. I reckon it’d get crazy.
- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth?
A wedding band that exclusively plays Boyz II Men covers in the dressing room, I don’t even have to think about that.
- What are your plans for the next future?
Next year we’ve got our debut EP coming out, it’s wall to wall slammers and basically everything we’re doing is in support of getting that out to as many people as possible! We can’t wait to drop it and then get out there and play it live for you all!
