Interview - Galaxy thief

Galaxy Thief, is a four piece indie-pop band from the South Coast. Let's have a chat with them about their music.

- Tell us about your latest release Free.
‘FREE’ is our latest single and our strongest song to date! It all came together really naturally after our guitarist (George) showed us a version of the main riff. Soon after, we laid down a full demo and the rest is history!

- How would you describe your sound?
The best way to describe our sound is a combination of the tightness of indie pop production with the stadium rock sound of a live band on stage. We work hard to make sure our songs are recreate-able live but still maintain a tightly produced, catchy vibe.

- What do you write about?
We tend to write about emotions and/or situations we find ourselves caught up in. Each song kind of takes its own meaning most of the time but we like to have an idea of the whole storyline before we start writing lyrics.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
We all have varying music tastes but we tend to listen to a lot of indie pop/rock bands such as the band CAMINO, The 1975, Angels and Airwaves, Nothing But Thieves etc.

- Your favourite live performance so far?
Our most favorite show to play was probably the headline show we just did at ‘229 Venue’ in London. It was such a sick atmosphere and truly a night we’re going to remember for a while!

- Your favourite albums?
It’s hard to pinpoint one particular album that we all like but one that our drummer(Ben) and singer(Rhys)both love is ‘Broken Machine - Nothing But Thieves’

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
One musician we’d love to meet for a beer is ‘Tom DeLonge’. He just seems like such a fun and genuine guy to hang out with, it would be such a laugh.

- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth? Our rider would be simple:
-Sofas to sleep on
-unlimited taco bell
-a HUGE supply of water
-4 gaming PC's

- What are your plans for the next future?
Our plans for the near future are to put on some regular shows around the south coast and continue to build on our fanbase whilst writing and releasing songs along the way.
