I am the unicorn head is a two piece band featuring Dragon Lord Apocalypse and Kid A. Let's talk to them about their new single Omnipresent and about music in general.

- Tell us about your latest release Omnipresent.
This track started off as a throbbing, dirty bass line that we built the rest of the song around. It has been described as an ‘octane fuelled alt/indie track’, and there is also a strong psychedelic garage rock vibe to it! The lyrics of ’Omnipresent’ explore the belief that the universe that only exists because we have perceived it.
- How would you describe your sound?
We’re a little bit all over the place regarding genre, but we try to stay grounded in catchy indie rock songs. Each release is quite different than the last though, from math rock, post punk, prog rock, psychedelic rock, garage rock to using electronic sounds and samples.
- What do you write about?
DLA:
I like to write about things that get peoples curiosities active. Nothing terribly deep or difficult to comprehend, but interesting enough that when presented in a creative way it will keep someone interested. Since this project is mostly anonymous, I’ve also been dabbling in writing about very personal issues, which I have not done in a really long time and I’m finding it to be very therapeutic. I forgot what it was like writing a song that wasn’t fictional.
- What do you listen to when you are home?
DLA:
I like everything from prog rock to indie rock. Right now I am loving the band Vola, who are quite a bit heavier than what I usually listen to.
Kid A:
I love many genres also, including post punk, prog, alt/indie, and anything else that grabs me. This week I have been mainly listening to The Flaming Lips, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Manic Street Preachers, and the new Porcupine Tree single.
- Your favourite albums?
DLA
Some of my favorite all time albums are Lateralus by Tool, Moon and Antarctica by Modest Mouse and White Pony by Deftones.

All time favourites include these, and so many more! The Soft Bulletin – The Flaming Lips, Hatfull of Hollow – The Smiths, Disintegration – The Cure, Boces – Mercury Rev, Outside – David Bowie, and Yessongs – Yes.
- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Each other! We formed our two piece band on Reddit and we live on different continents, in very different time zones! Kid A is from the UK, and Dragon Lord Apocalypse is from Baltimore, in the USA. We quickly became musical soulmates, and really enjoy creating music online together.
- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth?
DLA:
A comfortable chair
Kid A:
Somewhere quiet, to relax. A cheese sandwich (granary bread), and a JD and Coke.
- What are your plans for the next future?
We’ll release this album and start releasing some covers while we write album #2. Possibly a world tour if enough people are into it.
