Interview - SJÖBLOM

SJÖBLOM is a Swedish indie project, formed in 2016 in Stockholm by Johan SE.

- Hi there and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Telephone.
Well, 3d single from my new album DEMONS. Sort of an indie tune about loneliness, but maybe not a sad one. I made half of the song a long time ago and half in the studio last year. I like it a lot and I hope people will too.

- How would you describe your sound?
As I'm told people seem to think my voice and production is the sound. But musically it is some kind of a dark indie sound. The songs have to find their own way, so sometimes they need more guitars and sometimes drum machines and a digital sound.

- What do you write about?
50% life and 50% fiction stuff about life. Things that have happened and things that might happen.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
Different things, but right now the great Danish band Mew, old synth like early Eurythmics and 90-s indie like Shed Seven and Elcka.

- Your favourite live performance so far?
Latest show, 2 weeks ago when we opened up for Alphaville at their sold-out show in Gothenburg, Sweden. First show we had in 20 months, it was magic!

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
When the electricity went out at a show, so I took a acoustic guitar, and played a couple of songs sitting on the edge of the stage.

- Your favourite albums?
Seventeen Seconds with The Cure, Forever Young with Alphaville, The good will out with Embrace, and both my albums.

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Robert Smith from The Cure. (I recently had a beer with Marian Gold in Alphaville, so I can't say him!)

- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth?
I don't care about fancy things, but I really would like my own backstage. Before a show I need to be alone!

- What are your plans for the next future?
Promoting my new album, re-release of my first album "6", and a German tour in January-22.

Thanks SJÖBLOM and here below the links to follow the project, followed by their latest videoclip, telephone. Have a look.
