Interview - Todd Barrow

Todd Barrow plays almost every instrument, from piano to guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and drums, and the multi-instrumentalist doubles as a songwriter for himself as well as for other artists. “"If I can put a smile on someone’s face through song, well that just means the world to me,” he says. Let's have a chat with him.

- Hi Todd and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Good luck.
My new release is about finding success in your career. Never letting someone distract you from your dreams!

- How would you describe your sound?
I would say a mix of country rock, blues and traditional. Unique in the way the songs are developed. Singing a story to every listener.

- What do you write about?
Mostly about life experiences and true events. Usually current topics with a fresh outlook.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
I enjoy a variety of music. Good music is good music. I like genres ranging from rock to jazz. Most of all country is my favorite.

- Your favorite live performance so far?
My favorite performance was at the Bo’s festival in Louisiana. Performing with major actors and artists. John Schneider and Tom Wopat known as the “Dukes of Hazzard” were cheering me on at the event.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
In the studio during a recording session we did a prank on the guitar player. All musicians and myself stopped all at once. He kept playing then stopped so we started playing and singing again at this point. Everyone was laughing out loud about it.

- Your favorite albums?
My favorite album is by Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison 1968 and by The Long Run by the Eagles

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Mick Jagger with the Rolling Stones

- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth?
Lots of spicy foods and beer
