Interview - ROXX REVOLT & THE VELVETS

In 2014, Roxx Revolt made the move from Venezuela to the United States as an aspiring professional musician. In September of 2020, the group signed an international recording contract with American record producer Steven Machat and partner Debbie Veltri on the newly founded record label SSK Records. Let's have a chat with them about their new song and their music.

- Hi guys and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Supersonica Girl.
Supersonica girl is an easy going song, that makes you wanna dance and celebrate life, It's got some 70s glam vibe to it with a little heavier side.

- How would you describe your sound?
We wouldn’t know how to describe it, it is hard to be objective about your own sound but we can say it it has some punk, some glam and some classic rock and roll to it, it doesn’t feel old though.

- What do you write about?
Anything, everyday things, you never know what’s going to spark your inspiration and become something.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
We all listen to different genres but usually Jake like to listen to a lot of psychedelic garage rock, Chris loves experimental music, a lot of tame impala, Dan loves metal and Roxx can go from 2000 pop to punk to Classical music depending on her mood.

- Your favourite live performance so far?
I think we all have our own favorites, last months performances were all amazing, we could mention Revolution live! In Ft Lauderdale for an event call “The black market”, Also West Palm Beach and The Polk Theater in Lakeland opening for the rocky horror annual show.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage
There’s always funny things happening on stage, from Jake almost falling on stage, to Dans amp dying in the middle of a bass solo and the last one Roxx got electrocuted at a show for like 4 seconds.

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Roxx: If I could pick anyone, I'd revive prince and go for a beer with him.

- What would you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth?
Roxx: a bathroom for myself, super clean.
