DETENTION is a high-energy pop-punk, alt-rock band from Akron, Ohio, formed by teenagers. They performed alongside headliners Portugal The Man, AJR, Kesha, AJR, and Dayglow at Wonderstruck Music Festival in Cleveland and Wonderbus Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio in 2021.
DETENTION won the 24th Annual Tri-C High School Rock Off at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. They performed at the world-famous Whisky a Go Go in LA and had crowd-surfing fans. "The band was tight, lively, dynamic, and had the audience going crazy!" stated Barry Gabel, Senior Vice President of Live Nation.
The band just released their new single called Not to go. The song starts straight away with sort of melodic vocals (at least for the genre), and with an evident punk rock attitude. The sound is great, that's one of the things you notice immediately. The chorus got an interesting reggae soul (from the guitar) in it and it sounds something different. Great performance by the rhythm section, with tasty bass lines and great drumming, especially towards the end of the song. Not to go is a perfect Punk Rock song for radios with an impeccable performance by the band and with a perfect sound.
