Lapels are Nathan, Andy, Will, and Adam, a four-piece band of singer/songwriter/musicians from the East Midlands, whose honest, no-frills approach to indie/pop is quickly being compared to a Blur/Oasis-esque progression of the early days of the mid-90s Britpop.
Lapels' straightforward approach to British guitar-based pop resonates with audiences for its authenticity and honesty, lyrically describing everyday mundane stuff. Nathan and Andy ignited a singer/songwriter relationship at college in Nottingham, and the band was founded in 2018.
The boys began touring across the East Midlands, and they immediately needed a band name to put on a gig flier; because they were all wearing jackets at the time, the first word that connected them all was 'lapels.'
