Interview - The word66

The word66 have just released their 1st single off of their upcoming album "Rock & Roll Preaching." Let's have a chat with them about their music!

- Welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Just to Show My Love.
This is basically what I like to refer to as a rock worship tune. It's catchy, kind of poppy rock with a powerful message. Probably our mellowest track.

- How would you describe your sound?
Melodic hard rock. We have been blessed to be charting all over the world on various genres. Christian, rock, classic rock, hair band and even on some hardcore stations.

- What do you write about?
We always have a positive message in our music. We are a Christian rock band whose purpose is to spread the word through our music. We are trying to reach people that are going through some hard times and or indecision and letting them know that they are not alone and that the answer might be closer than they might think. And if you are not into the message, that's cool too. We hope that you will just enjoy the music.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
I like a lot of stuff. Christian rock, metal, classic rock, indie, adult contemporary, some jazz and even some EDM every now and then.

- Your favorite live performance so far?
Every time we get to spread the word with our music it is a true blessing.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
When we were recording our cover of "Spirit in the sky" we had planned to fade it out like the original version. At the end we started goofing around. The drummer started playing a double bass lick and I started improving on the guitar and when we played it back we thought it was pretty cool and decided to keep it.

- Your favorite albums?
Man, that's a tough one. Satriani's Surfing with the Alien I think is a masterpiece. Dirt from Alice in Chains. Animals from Pink Floyd. Black Sabbath, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Big Shinedown and Disciple fan.

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Probably Steve Vai or John Petrucci.

- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
For us that's not what it's all about. Just a quiet place where we can spend a little time with our father.

- What are your plans for the near future?
We are getting ready to release our new album called "Rock & Roll Preaching. We are hoping to play some live dates, shoot a new video or two and continue to spread the word to all that would like to hear.
