Wuji - Slipping/Survival

Andrew Kashak and his friends founded Wuji, which is made up of extremely compatible players. Tyler Dallas, Brian Maudsley, and Jeremy Krenbrink started in 2019 after Andrew released an EP of music he wrote from 2014 to 2016.

Wuji's music, which is imbued with passion, stands out in a sea of modern music. Apathy. They resuscitate the punk rock grits while retaining the free-spirited essence of the bands they are inspired by. Thor's voice is evocative of a dairy-free message of hope that uplifts listeners. Through a psychedelic rock and roll prism, they are here to bring people out of the darkness and illuminate light.

This is their new single, called Slipping, happy in the mood but with grungy riffs, a very good vocal performance and a very good rhythm section. Regarding that, and in particular the drumming, I really like the break in the middle with a very good quality performance, before the last chorus. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below.

Survival is the name of their other single with a way heavier atmosphere than the previous one, early grunge/stoner rock vibes and more aggressive vocals. The guitars are punchy and they have an amazing sound. The song brings me back to early Soundgarden but it's got some vibes from the 70s as well.

Give it a go and don't forget to follow the band on social media.
