Interview - Federico Torzoni

- Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release Energizing.
My latest release, Energizing, is an instrumental EP available on all major platforms since March of this year. The aim of this work was to give life to a concept album, with topics concerning the need to look within oneself to find one's own balance of life, escaping adversity and daily boredom, giving space to ourselves.  Both my songs and the videos, which I invite you to see, want to convey this message, a message of optimism and hope, trying to infuse to listeners the right amount of energy to stimulate and reach our goals and our dimension.

- How would you describe your sound?
My style is a sort of crossover, ranging from rock to metal and dance, exploding in choruses that want to attract attention. So my sound is a mix, ranging from clean and acoustic sounds, to particularly distorted and aggressive ones. An important instrument for my works  is the whammy, almost always present in my songs

- What do you write about?
The main themes of tracks are the need to escape, the sense of alienation, freeing  ourselves, reacting to adverse external events, looking to the past to find the right path for the future, giving space ton one’s dreams, directing oneself towards the light with a sense of optimism. Obviously for me the key to resist remains music.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
I consider myself a curious person and free of preconceptions. I therefore feel interested in listening to the most varied musical genres. Obviously I always have an eye for the classic 70s and 80s that characterized my growth

- Your favourite live performance so far?
Hard to tell. May be the Led Zeppelin Earls Court performance of 1975.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
A funny moment on stage was when I lost my guitar signal due to the cable: a good friend of mine was pressing the jack on the amplifier for several minutes so that I could play.

- Your favourite albums?
Houses of the Holy of Led Zeppelin, The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Sticky Fingers by The   Rolling Stones, Reggatta De Blanc The Police, Rio of Duran Duran, 1984 by Van Halen, Master of Puppets - Metallica, Music for The Masses by Depeche Mode, Surfing With The Alien by Joe Satriani, Passion and Warfare  Steve Vai, Nevermind Nirvana, Blood Sugar Sex Magic  RHCP, Rage Against the Machine, Ok Computer -Radiohead, Origin of Symmetry by Muse.

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
 Tom Morello.

- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
An area for my best friends, in order to have them close to me while I perform my shows.

- What are your plans for the near future?
I would like to give life to a new project shortly, but this time creating something different, introducing a singer to my songs.

Giovanni Gagliano

Passionate about music I wrote my first article for "Given To Rock" in 2012, reaching now 30K global followers. I am also a musician, gigging around London.
