Static Ultra is what happens when two fathers who have spouses and careers decide that life is too short not to pursue their aspirations of performing and releasing their music into the public.
Alek Kalinowski (guitar) and Trask VanZant (guitar/vocals) recruited drummer and producer Mark Schmidt to start the journey back to the studio and back onto the stage in 2022. The founding members had previously shared the stage with bands like We The Kings, Spill Canvas, The Almost, Acceptance, Against The Current, Emery, and many more before the pandemic and before becoming fathers.
Their debut single is called "Stories Left Untold," and it is an optimistic and introspective return to the scene with a nostalgic yet contemporary sound that is evocative of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Warped Tour soundtracks from the middle of the 2000s. What I like about the song is the energy, the performance and especially the chorus, extremely catchy and with a very good sound. Check out also the bridge in the middle of the song, with great drumming and guitars.
