Interview - Inimical Drive

Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release "Nothing new".
“Nothing New” is the third single from our forthcoming EP “From Solitude”. The song discusses how everything goes in cycles and that people can be predictable caught up in the same cycle someone else has gone through. People like to think they have it all figured out until life proves them wrong. And we do it again and again.

- How would you describe your sound?
This record is definitely heavier on the rock side of things but still holds some metal tones throughout. We have metalcore roots but heavy rock influences.

- What do you write about?
Personal growth, relationships, strength through understanding of sorts. Writing has been therapy for me over the years. Everything holds a story of mine.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
I’m all over the place. I’m a big fan of streaming playlists. I enjoy that the most of the streaming platforms is the discovery of new music. I’ve been digging the British metal and rock sounds as of late.

- Your favorite live performance so far?
Had our first appearance at Inkcarceration Festival this summer and that festival is insane. Any time we check something big off the list like that are always epic.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
There was a “melody” toad in the woods where we recorded these songs. We would separate in the writing process and the melody toad would emerge and bring new melody ideas to our producer. This happened multiple times during the process.

- Your favorite albums?
This may be a lame answer but I struggle with favorites. I overthink the “why” it’s my favorite. Standout records were always my favorite for more of a time stamp in my life. But for the sake of the question my favorite Limp Bizkit record is “Significant Other” 😬.

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
All of them. I like beer and fellowship.

- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
Heavy salted deluxe mixed nuts. There’s a favorite for me. But with no budget to consider I’m sure a chiropractor on site has been brought up enough times that we’d utilize their service.

- What are your plans for the near future?
Just bought a bus. The plan is to use it. Stay tuned.
