Souls Extolled - Self-Mutilation

Austin, Texas' Souls Extolled is a blast of proto-metal and ska punk. The bands' gritty blend is daring yet recognisable, fusing generations of influences from rock to grunge, rap, and reggae. A hard rock core with gritty and debaucherous lyrics is surrounded by ska and psychedelic accents.

The three had the appearance of a deranged street gang from another era. Their songs are dripping with existential agony and profanity, often veiled in smoke and accompanied by a mysterious masked person. They're an explosive exhibition of modern rock music, with their powerful mood nostalgic of the legendary rock icons they evoke!

This is their new single, called Self-Mutilation. The song starts with an energetic guitar riff to turn almost straight away into reggae, to turn back again into classic rock, with a grunge refrain. It's obvious as the band has many influences and also they are totally able to combine them perfectly and switch from one genre to another. The performance is spot on (check the guitar solo!) and also the sound is perfect in combining all the different styles of the band. Great song and great performance, give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and don't forget to follow Souls Extolled on social media as well.
