Song of the day: The Under - Divine Drive

THE UNDER combines heavy metal, hardcore, and prog rock to create a unique sound that both thrills the intellect and pleases the ears. Sonic peaks and troughs, introspective lyrics, and dizzying rhythms push the boundaries of familiar musical territory. Listeners are led on an exploratory voyage, but one that ultimately leads them home. The Under, a Boston-based trio led by singer/guitarist Daniel Costa, formed in the late 2000s. Drummer Adam Soucy joins the band in 2023, and bassist Ben Sternbaum returns. The Fathom EP is the second installment in The Under's mission to provide a distinct kind of heaviness.

This is their new single, called Divine Drive. I love how the song combines different genres, starting with a thrash metal mood riff but going into prog directions, straight after. The vocals are melodic but energetic at the same time and the overall performance by the band is spot-on (great riffs and a very dynamic and intricate rhythm section. The song is very interesting and quality. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and don't forget to follow THE UNDER on social media as well.
