We sound like
For the band’s sound, our main influences would be bands like Epica, Nightwish, Visions of Atlantis, Camelot, Within Temptation, Stratovarius etc. for the sound we are aiming for. However, we try not to put too many constraints on ourselves and if it sounds cool, we will pursue it.

Discography
So far just the one EP, Melodis. We are currently in the middle of writing a full-length album which should be released about mid next year.

Influences
Each member brings their own flavour to the band and those individual influences and styles bleed through into our songs. Chris (drums) would bring the most symphonic influences from the bands mentioned earlier. Tim’s (guitar) background is in thrash and metalcore with his main influences being bands such as Metallica, Trivium and Bullet for my Valentine. Paul (bass) brings jazz fusion and funk elements from bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and artists like Victor Wooten. Campbell brings the classical, progressive and power metal themes from great composers such as Mozart and Beethoven and bands such as Dream Theatre and Stratovarius. Sarah brings her choir training into writing interesting vocal lines.

What do you write about?
We have main themes we like to use in our lyrics. First and foremost is the exploration of historical and/or fantasy events. Songs like Melodis, which explores how music and melodies are passed down through time, and War of necessity, which explores the tragedy of having to fight a war for limited resources, fit into this category. Our secondary theme which is common in a lot of music is self-exploration. Songs like No More Tears and Waiting Breathing Feeling are about events in our lives that some of the band members went through. These experiences left lasting impacts and shaped the people we are today, these songs are ways of exploring and expressing the emotions associated with these events.

Your favourite live performance so far?
Playing a show at a place called ‘The Corner Hotel’. It’s an iconic live music venue in Melbourne. The crowd was awesome, the sound on stage was perfect and the performance was really fun.

Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
Recently while recording demos for the new album, Sarah was doing vocal tracks and we had to do a few takes because every time she moved her leg her knee would click so loud it was coming through the microphone.

Your favourite records?
Sarah: Z² - The Devin Townsend Project
Tim: Ride the Lightning – Metallica
Paul: Discovery – Daft Punk
Chris: Classical Conspiracy – Epica

A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Sarah: Johannes EckerstrÖm
Tim: James Hetfield
Paul: Herbie Hancock
Chris: Alien Van Wessenbek

What will you ask backstage if you were the most important band on earth?
A steady stream of beers and our favourite takeaway on tap.
