Song of the day: Thorslund - Hours to Go

THORSLUND is a Hollywood, California-based Canadian-American rock & roll band. Jeff Thorslund (vocals, guitar, bass guitar) and his brother Tom Thorslund (drums, backing vocals) make up the band.

Their self-titled debut was just released. The brothers produced and engineered the album themselves, and it was mixed by Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Dirty Honey). The brothers used many rare vintage rock n' roll instruments in the recording of the album to accurately capture the sound of rock n' roll's heyday, including several Kalamazoo-era Gibson guitars, an original 1968 Marshall full stack only a few serial numbers away from Van Halen's famous amp, and 1970 Thermogloss Ludwig drums identical to those John Bonham used in Led Zeppelin.

This is their new single, called "Hours to Go". I love the pure rock n' roll riff and the mood of the song, amazingly performed by the two brothers. I find the bass lines very tasty and the vocals perfect for the song, robust and energetic but with a lot of melody too. The riff at 1.14 is everything! A quality song from every point of view.
