Brighton
alt-rockers Jar Of Blind Flies unleash the explosive new single ‘Not
Your Baby’.
Recorded at the
renowned Marshall studio by Adam Beer and Ollie Brightman (known for
their work with Nova twins, Kid Bookie, King Nun) before being mixed by Mixed and Mastered by
Tidalwave recordings (Lambrini girls among others), the track represents some of
the bands most intense and high octane work to date.
Having previously
supported notable acts such as Hotwax, Snayx, Mary in the Junkyard, Sickjoy,
Gaffa Tape Sandy, and more, Jar of Blind Flies have cut their teeth playing
packed out rooms across Brighton and London. Now gearing up for their biggest
hometown show to date supporting electro-punk renegades CLT DRP at Club
Revenge, the new single comes at a pivotal time for the band.
Built around
heavily distorted guitars, rumbling bass and punching drums, ‘Not Your Baby’
captures the energy of the band’s live shows as it blends the band’s garage
rock tendencies with heavy grunge sounds to create an expressive and dark
soundscape. Topped with the urgent snarling, half vocals of Maddy and dappled
screamo of drummer Marley, the track carries a naturally captivating sense of
sarcasm and a biting sense of bitterness.
Talking about the
lyricism in ‘Not Your Baby’, Maddy explains: “Its amplified phrasing of
affection is the manifestation of ‘loving by proxy’ bred by modern society’s
click and collect love and the consumerism of pleasure. The expression of
infatuation although seemingly impassioned underlays an insincerity”
Talking about the
recording process, Bassist Jake explains: “Recording at The Marshall
studio was a whole new level for us. Going from the relatively DIY recording
style of our early songs to recording in a 250-capacity amphitheatre with every
bit of tech you could ever imagine was a real culture shock. The way the
recordings have come out is levels above what we could’ve hoped for and we’ve
learnt so much from the experience”
Drawing
inspiration from legendary artists such as Pixies, Deftones, as well as Jeff
Buckley in their more delicate moments, Jar of Blind Flies sound moves between
raw heavy rock and punk and others of gentle melodic grunge. Their 2022 debut,
'Míà,' was a glimpse into the songwriting capabilities of core duo Maddy Jarvis
and Marley Perez, propelling them from playing empty rooms to packed-out shows
across the UK in under a year.
With ‘Not Your
Baby’, Jar of Blind Flies elevates their production to new heights, promising a
sonic experience that transcends their previous work. Fans can catch them live
on March 23rd at Club Revenge in Brighton, supporting CLT DRP.
