Interview - Venus

Giusy Minervino, also known as Venus, began learning music at a young age.
Growing up, she was inspired by legendary bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, W.A.S.P., Queen, Rush, Rainbow, and Journey.
She has performed in a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles, including opera and heavy metal, as a soloist, supporting vocalist, and keyboardist.

The album "Two-0-one-9" was written, composed, and produced by Marco D'Andrea, with lyrics by Venus.

1) Hi and welcome to this interview. How would you describe your sound?
- My sound is inspired by power metal with prog influences.

2) What do you write about?
- In my songs I poured my emotions, my point of view on important issues such as war, climate crisis, pandemic but, I‘ve also written about love, revenge, musicians who always look for an opportunity to make their music heard.
 


3) What do you listen to when you are home?
- I listen to classical music, opera, hard rock of the ’80s and Iron Maiden.

4) Your favourite live performance so far? 
- Iron Maiden in Milan

5) Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
- We were recording the power ballad and we needed to fill it with emotion. My producer Marco D’andrea said: “Listen to me! Sing with passion, sing with all the breath you have!” and in the end the studio computer crashed, so I had to sing it all over again!

6) Your favourite albums?
- Piece of mind (Iron Maiden), Black Album (Metallica), The last in line (Dio), Innuendo (Queen).

7) A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
- Bruce Dickinson

8) What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
- Fresh fruit, a lot of water, herbal tea.

9) What are your plans for the near future?
- Record a second album and play as an opening band at major festivals.
