Planethard - Interview

- Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release "Equilibrium"
M. D’Andrea: Hi to everybody! Equilibrium is our fourth studio album, and we are so excited about it. Every album has a particular sound and “Equilibrium” has this. Melody, Heavy Guitar Riffs, Mid-Temp & Fast Songs, Ballads and just a little bit of progressive, This is the recipe of the new album. “United We Stand” & “Still Alive” are the ballads, “Fading Away” is the first single & Video clip, “A King” is one of my preferred songs from the album, We have done the Lyric Video. Let me introduce the band: Alberto Zampolli (Lead Vocal), Andrea Bovolenta (Bass Guitar), Stefano Arrigoni (Drum) and me, Marco D’Andrea (Guitars)

- How would you describe your sound?
S. Arrigoni: we took inspiration from the bigs for sure, but we are going to develop our identity based on our long experience together. We don’t have really “a sound”, rather an identity depending on what we are playing, our feelings.

- What do you write about?
A. Zampolli: We write about common life episodes, taking cues from our experiences or from people near us. Nothing special... For us, it is important, and it would be a great result if anyone could recognize themselves in some of our song's lyrics.

- What do you listen to when you are home?
A. Bovolenta: There isn't a specific kind of music or band/singer I use to listen to. I use to move from metal/hard rock to blues or even pop music depending on the period and the mood.
S. Arrigoni: in this last period I am listening to new music rather than 80’ or 90’ or 00’. I like to understand what is going on today and maybe have a nap on it ;)

- Your favourite live performance so far?

M.D’Andrea: Without any doubt, last summer during our show as a special guest for Deep Purple’s Tour in Pordenone. Amazing show & really a river of people in the venue.

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
S.Arrigoni: I remember very well one of our last gigs where Ian Gillan complimented Alberto (singer) and this is one that I am absolutely proud about.
Funny stories are uncountable! Last one was in Pordenone last summer, when a Guy in the first line threw from the crush barrier just for having a pick of the band! WTF?

- Your favourite albums?
A. Zampolli: Adrenaline mob - omertà
M. D’Andrea: Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation
A. Bovolenta: Guns’n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
S. Arrigoni: Megadeth - Rust In Peace

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
A. Bovolenta: Unfortunately he is someone that nobody will ever have the chance to meet again: Lemmy.....and It would have been more whisky rather than beer, but for sure much more than one! First of all I think he still represents the true spirit of rock'n'roll but moreover, according to what you can read, he also had a lot of passions and interests outside music, he should have been a really interesting person to chat with about a lot of different topics.

- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?

M.D’Andrea: A Grand Piano, a Punching bag, a personal rehearsal room before every show and what else? Just let me thinking... a Gym! Why Not?
S. Arrigoni: sex, (no) drugs and rock ‘n roll!!!

- What are your plans for the near future?

A. Zampolli: We want to have the album heard by as many people as possible. We'll take some constructive criticism to compose new songs with this awesome band formation!
A. Bovolenta: First of all we'd like to make our music (above all our album Equilibrium) known to as many people as possible all around the world...and obviously play, play, play and play again.

Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow the band on social media.
