Taurus Inferno - Interview

TAURUS INFERNO‘s self-titled album “TAURUS INFERNO” was released on December 10th, 2023. Taurus Inferno was born in 2016. Let's have a chat about their music.

- Hi and welcome to this interview. Tell us about your latest release.
Good morning and thanks for the interview. I'm Camillo, guitar and vocals of Taurus Inferno. Our first album was released in digital version at the end of 2023 thanks to the collaboration with Wanikiya Records and Mr. Jack who is taking care of our promotion in Italy and abroad. we are a trio from the province of Pistoia in Tuscany, with me there is Stefano Doretti on drums and Antonio Ghisu on bass. As for the sound aspect, we all love 80s sounds and classic NWOBHM in general, so we tend to look for that particular type of sound. Furthermore, the album was recorded in analogue mode, without the use of modern technologies and I hope you will like the result. we grew up listening to all those bands that were part of the first heavy metal wave, especially those bands from Europe and the UK
- How would you describe your sound?
Venom, Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest...these are the bands whose sound we appreciate, a slightly dirty sound, who knows maybe it reminds us of our youth...

- What do you write about?
The lyrics of the songs are of different types. "Jump in the Dark" is inspired by a historic photo of a soldier from the former East Germany who, jumping over the barbed wire fence, fled to what was West Germany. "Witching Hour" on the other hand is more of a quest for supernatural power, which is sought when a person no longer has the ability to solve problems with the logic of the brain. "Modern Atavism" is a criticism of that condition of mental slavery in which we often find ourselves. We make decisions that are not really wanted, we behave in a bestial way towards others and even towards ourselves. Unfortunately, we are conditioned by all those indications that are given to us by the system on how we should behave nowadays

- What do you listen to when you are home?
Personally, I don't listen to much music at home. Nowadays you find music everywhere, at the bar, at the restaurant, in the office, in the toilet, at the dentist. We overdose on music and often of very poor quality, so when I'm at home it's often very quiet...or the beautiful sound of the forest next to my house

- Your favourite live performance so far?
oh, unfortunately we haven't played many gigs, but I can tell you that a very good one was at the Santa Valvola Fest in Prato, it was summer, very well organised, very kind and the audience was large and interesting. We would love to play in clubs or in any case in small festivals dedicated to this kind of music

- Tell us a funny story that happened in studio or on stage.
I'll tell you something that didn't happen either in the studio or on stage. We were working on the photos for the album cover, we were near a beautiful ancient oak tree called "the witches' oak" and we were trying to get some photos with a slightly magical, esoteric look, to give the album a slightly more magical and mysterious. when we finished the photo session we were satisfied but something was missing, a small thing. suddenly a small white pony appeared from the woods. it seemed like a sign of destiny, a secret message, who knows... then his owner arrived and took him away... too bad

- Your favourite albums? each of us listens and has listened to a lot of music, not just metal, so telling you what our favorite album is is really difficult. As far as I'm concerned I can tell you that if it's a rainy day I might listen to "Selling England by the Pound" by Genesis, or if the night is really dark I put on "Into The Pandemonium" by Celtic Frost. Musically I'm very meteopathic

- A musician you would like to meet for a beer?
Bill Steer

- What would you ask for backstage, if you were the most important band on earth?
fish and chips because I only ate it once in England and it was delicious -

What are your plans for the near future?
go back to the past!! and of course playing live as much as possible
