THE SIMPLETONS - Cold in the Daylight

The Simpletons
are a worldwide Indie Rock band that specialises in a blend of jangly guitars and harmonic intricacy. Marty-Willson Piper produced the Simpletons' latest hit, "Cold in the Daylight", released on the 1st of March,  as they enter their third decade of producing music together.

"Cold in the Daylight" expands the band's musical area beyond their previous EP, which focused on electronica and dream pop. The new track features vocals and keyboards from Kari Campbell, a close friend of the band. Kari's B3 organ and soulful vocals add a new dimension to the ensemble, which was previously all male. On the new track, Nathan Fynn's gruff voice complements guitarist/vocalist Brian McMurtry's elegiac lines on his 12-string Rickenbacker and heavy Jaguar guitars. Bassist Scott McTaggart leads the rhythm section and adds harmonic complexity.
