Todd "Van" Friscia debuted as a solo artist in 2011, during the Guitar Hero/Rock Band plastic instrument craze. After leaving local bands, Van found himself producing more complicated riffs that didn't always fit the usual song shape, but he found the Rock Band Network to be the perfect outlet for them. His distinct brand of symphonic prog metal presented a great challenge for players, and his Epic Symphony in A Flat Minor was one of the more successful batches of songs on the indie platform.
Fallen Angel, his new concept album, is set to be released on August 24th, and it chronicles his grieving journey following the death of his six-month-old son, Tony. I love the guitars on the new single Charmed-ish Life, very technical but easy listening at the same time. The vocals are catchy (great performance) and the rhythm section is fast paced and very solid. The song is very enjoyable from start to finish, give it a go on the YouTube player above and follow Todd "Van" Friscia on social media as well.
