Lab Rat - Drunk

Lab Rat, the stage name of British-born Dylan James, has faced a challenging journey to success, marked by deep personal struggles such as family conflict, trauma, depression, and suicidal tendencies.

His new single "Drunk" is a raw anthem for those yearning for freedom and authenticity. The artist commented about:‘Drunk’ was written when I was with my ex. We weren’t good together. We used to be very toxic and at least once a month we would have a massive fight and break up which would lead to one of us calling each other at 3am drunk out of our minds asking to pop round and ‘work things out’ I wrote the bassline about 6 years ago and in the wake the relationship finally imploding and the song just kind of fell out. The Girl in question has actually heard track since I wrote it and surprisingly seems to like it, for now at least anyway.

The song starts with a catchy guitar riff and features a catchy chorus too. I find the song very direct, with a no-frills attitude and structure, and overall very enjoyable and radio-friendly. In terms of style, it's a great combination between the 90s (the vocal lines and the guitars) and the current days (in terms of production and sound in general). Mention also for the lyrics, which I find very inspired and intense. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Lab Rat on social media.
