The album is comprised of 13 songs for 48 minutes of music. A very atmospheric start with the title track, very 80s, with synths and a strong, anthemic, chorus. Similar vibes (and a classy arrangement) for the following track "The Tease", delicate and energetic at the same time.
"Haunted" has a very intense finale and "Lost in the Fall", track number 4 has beautiful vocal lines, as well as "Drown My Heart", both extremely catchy and definitely among my favourites on the album. Speaking of favourites, I definitely have to include "Burning Sin", very radio-friendly and with vocals that reminded me of something in between Ville Valo and Pete Steele, and "My Everything", with intense vocals and a very delicate arrangement (and some fantastic solos as well). The album is very well produced and it's not easy to blend many elements, but every instrument sounds clear and they blend together magnifically.
Among other songs, I like the atmosphere and the chorus of "Undercurrent", (with, again, some fantastic guitar solos) and the delicate vocals of the pop "Meeting in the Middle", something very different from what we've heard so far, as well as the two final tracks "Beauty and the Beast" and "In The Space Between".
This album is quite intriguing, as it blends elements from various genres. The guitars aren't featured in every track, but when they appear, they are notably inspired, often showcasing short solos or riffs.
"The Fire Within" is a dark and intense journey inspired and made with passion. Listen to it by clicking on the YouTube player below.
