Enkoh is the stage name of Enzo Pignataro, an Italian guitarist with a diverse musical background. He was a member of the band Wheel, with which he released the EP "Big Snake" in 2011. In 2012, he published a full-length album titled "Wanna Change My Life" through the German label G-Records/Rough Trade. He also worked with the band Rublood on the album "Star Vampire," which was released in 2013 through Bakerteam Records. With Rublood, he engaged in an intensive live performance schedule both in Italy and abroad.
In 2023 and 2024, he played in the Turin band I-DEA, with whom he will open some concerts for Omar Pedrini and HEROES AND MONSTERS (Steff Burns, Todd Kerns, Hunt, members respectively of Vasco Rossi's bands, and former Alice Cooper, Evanescence, Slash). Reworking the original music to publish it, he writes the five songs collected here and published in Snøflak. This collection is actually a story, even if instrumental, and through music alone, it proposes to tell the emotional path that starts from the observation of what is no longer there, through the consequent frustration and anger, and arrives at a form of final serenity. This is achieved by the courage to let go of what is no longer there to recognize one's own desires, and to free oneself from one's own sealed destiny to choose one's life with determination.
Signals is his last single and it's a great instrumental song. The musician's performance is spot on and in terms of mood, I can hear some Steve Vai mixed with some prog bits. I find the song very enjoyable from start to finish (something not to take for granted when you listen to instrumental songs), thanks to its variety, quality of production, and lots of tasty details. A very cool song, amazingly written and performed. Give it a go by clicking on the Spotify player below and remember to follow Enkoh on Instagram as well.
